The Demo City Council is the governing body of the City of Demo, composed of seven council members elected by district to four-year staggered terms. The Council sets policy direction, adopts the annual budget, enacts ordinances, and provides oversight of city operations. Regular meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 10:00 AM in the Council Chambers at 100 Main Street. All meetings comply with the California Brown Act and are open to the public. The Council also convenes in closed session as permitted by law to discuss personnel, litigation, labor negotiations, and real property matters.

Housing Authority

The Demo City Housing Authority provides affordable housing and related services to low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities throughout the city. The Authority manages over 2,500 public housing units and administers approximately 4,000 Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8). The seven-member board oversees an annual budget of $45 million and works to expand affordable housing options, prevent homelessness, and promote self-sufficiency among residents.
